Yaşadığımız XXİ əsr öz yenilikləri və ağlasığmaz inkişafı ilə həyatda baş verən bir çox dəyişikliklərdə öz təsirini göstərir. Hətta bu təsir bəzən o qədər güclü olurki,insanların şüuruna və düşünmə tərzində belə özünü biruzə verir. Bəs bu yeniliyin və tərəqqinin insanların münasibətində nə qədər özünü doğrultması və davamlılığı düşündürücü sualdır.
Müqayisə üçün ilkin olaraq tanışlıq formalarına nəzər salsaq, əvvəllər tanışlıq məkanı ya hər hansi bir ictimai nəqliyyat (tramvay, avtobus və s) və ya ictimai əyləncəli (kinoteatr, konsert, film festivaları və s) yerlər idisə, indi tanışlıq növləri daha asan və konkretdir – internet, blutuz və ya sms. Buradan belə bir sual yaranır ki, bu tip tanışlıqlar nə qədər uzun ömürlü, səmimi və dürüst olur..?! Əlbəttə əgər söhbət virtual tanışlıqdan gedirsə, insanlar özlərini olmaq istədikləri kimi təqdim etmək üçün çox da əziyyət çəkməyə ehtiyac duymurlar. Bütün bu tanışlıq növləri isə nəticə etibarı ilə ona gətirib çıxarır ki, müasir dövrün tələbləri, flirt, əyləncə, və “yaxın” əlaqə (close relation) yaratmaqdır. Bu tələblər hal-hazırda o qədər prioritetə çevrilibki, nəinki gənclər hətta yeniyetmələr belə bu tələblərlə uyğunlaşmağa can atır.
Çox uzağa getmək lazım deyil, istirahət etmək və ya hər hansı bir informasiyanı əldə etmək üçün istifadə etdiyimiz telekanallarda belə bunun şahidi olmaq üçün ən azı 20-25 dəq yetər. Verilişə baxırıq və sətir altı yazılar gedir: “ 16-17 yaşında olan və sevməyi bacaran oğlan varsa, tanış olmaq istəyirəm, yaşım 16, Zabratda yaşayaıram, adım Güneldir, sms göndərin, TƏLƏSİN!” Maraqlıdır, tələsməsə nə olacaq görəsən? J Amma acınacaqlıdırki, 16 yaşında yeniyetmənin maraq dairəsi təhsil almaq, həyatda özünə mövqe tutmaq, cəmiyyətin faydalı bir vətəndaşı olmaq deyil, əks cinsin nümayəndələrinə sevgi təklifi ilə çıxış etməkdir.
Əgər bizlər həmin yaş dövründə valideynlərimizin daima bizə aşıladığı “əxlaq, mənəvi dəyərlər, dürüstlük, şərəf, ləyaqət, namusla yaşamaq vacibliyi” terminlər idisə, indi həmin terminlər az qala arxaizm sözlər sırasına aid edilir və əgər valideynlərimizin bizə öyrətdiyi əsas dəyərlərləri qorumağa çalışırıqsa, “müasir” gənclər tərəfindən qəbul edilməz oluruq və “keçmiş əsrin adamları” adını belə alırıq. Lakin, insanlar bir anlıq vaxt ayırıb düşünmək istəmirlərki, 16-17 yaşlarında yeniyetmə bir şəxs “müasir” metodlarla özünə həmdəm axtarırsa, həyatda flirt və əyləncəyə meyl edirsə, onun gələcəkdə öz övladlarına verə biləcəyi nəsihət hansı formada və nə dərəcədə düzgün ola bilər?!?!?!?!?!

WFM-IGP is now accepting applications for the 2008 Jeanette Short Fellowship on United Nations Reform. The fellowship will begin in January 2008.
Fellowship Description
This fellowship falls within WFM-IGP's program area of International Democratic Governance (IDG). The fellowship will focus on the IDG program's initiative on UN reform. The fellowship is full-time for a period of six months. The fellowship includes a stipend of $6,000 plus reimbursement for transportation.
Responsibilities There are two major areas of responsibility for the fellowship. The fellow likely will spend approximately half of his or her time on each one.

We are currently recruiting applicants for the 2008 program. The 2008 applications are now on-line. They can be downloaded from our website as PDF files and submitted to us via fax, email or regular mail. The application deadline for non-US students is January, 4 2008 and for US students it is February 15, 2008.
1) Students must be fluent in English. (We will call them directly to verify their knowledge and will also ask their academic advisors to certify their fluency.)
