CALL FOR PROPOSALS:
SUMMARY:
The U.S. Embassy in Baku solicits proposals for alumni activity funding from participants in the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP). JFDP alumni may submit proposals for amounts up to $5,000 for country projects and up to $15,000 for multi-country or regional projects.
DEADLINE: Deadline for receipt of proposals at the U.S. Embassy in Baku is May 20, 2008.

TYPES OF ACTIVITIES:
Activities may include regional and/or single-country workshops or symposia, speaker presentations by JFDP alumni, online or web-based activities, materials development or other related projects. Multi-country projects are encouraged.
While the primary beneficiaries of this funding must be 2007-2008 JFDP participants, JFDP alumni from previous years are welcome to participate. Depending on the timing of the project, 2008-2009 JFDP finalists may also be included.
PROJECT TIMEFRAME: Projects may begin as soon as the 2007-2008 JFDP participants return home in early summer 2008 and must be underway before September 30, 2008. Projects should be concluded by December 31, 2008.
PROPOSAL FORMAT:
Proposals should include following: 1) A brief narrative (2-4 pages) that outlines the activity and describes participants and audiences (see below); 2) Detailed, itemized budget, breaking out costs for travel, venue, and materials. 3) Information about the applicant: - First/last name - Resume or CV - Applicant’s contact information (address, tel, cell phone, fax, e-mail).
PROPOSAL GOALS AND CRITERIA FOR SELECTION: Proposals will be reviewed and projects selected by a U.S. Department of State panel based on their relevance to overall JFDP goals and objectives. Projects are expected to: - Enhance participants, knowledge and teaching in their fields of study; - Build on professional ties they developed with the U.S. academic community during the grant; - Provide them opportunities to share their experiences and knowledge with peers and faculty and students at home institutions.
AUDIENCE:
Projects may be directed at a variety of audiences, including university faculty and students, JFDP alumni, secondary school teachers and students, and government entities and NGOs working in education fields. Projects involving interlocutors in the United States must be conducted through online collaboration via the Internet or digital videoconferencing (DVCs).
FUNDING LEVELS:
Proposals may request funding for single-country projects up to $5,000. For multi-country or regional projects, funding up to $15,000 may be requested. Funds will not be available to support travel to or from the United States for any project participant.
