Title: Staff Attorney - Criminal Law Program
Position: Full-time position (Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.); occasional weekend work required.
Start Date: August 1, 2008
Job Description: The Criminal Law Staff Attorney is responsible for development and oversight of the Criminal Law Programs in the ABA CEELI office in Azerbaijan. The Staff Attorney will work closely with Legal Specialist (American Attorney) on the following projects: coordinating and designing criminal and criminal code development projects; creation and implementation of anti-corruption programs; develop courses and training modules for advocates; and assistance in planning conferences, roundtables and training programs as required. Additionally, the Staff Attorney will work closely with American ABA staff to oversee and assist in the development outreach for the various programs and provide translation and interpretation for American staff as needed.

Supervisor: The Criminal Law Staff Attorney reports directly to the Criminal Law Program Legal Specialist (American staff). S/he works under the supervision of Liaison to support the implementation of the Criminal Law Program.
Requirements: · Advanced Degree in Law, preferably from foreign university · Fluency in English, Azeri and Russian. · At least two year work experience in an international organization · Strong verbal and written communication skills . Independent and creative thinking . Familiarity with the Bar Association . Experience in organization of trainings · Excellent computer skills including Word and Outlook.
Preferences: · Previous program management experience · Work experience in legal field . Expertise in one of the following areas: Criminal Law, European Human Rights Law . An interest in human rights, improving the quality of the legal profession in Azerbaijan
